Project 1: VR Counselor Participant Engagement Practices

This project will develop resources and training for VR counselors to support VR participant engagement practices. A Statewide VR Leadership Academy will be developed to support state VR agencies in developing support networks of counselors as leaders in their offices and regions to build capacity and increase participant engagement across the state. Through this project, a replication model will be developed for other state agencies to be able to implement their own statewide leadership academies.

Activities

  • Statewide VR Leadership Academy (SVRLA): A piloted model to increase skills in leadership and evidence-based practices.
  • Skill Enhancement Modules: Training on Pre-ETS, benefits counseling, financial planning, advocacy skills, and STEM careers.
  • Self-Assessment Tools: Resources for VRCs to evaluate & improve their engagement techniques, as well as improve service delivery and participant engagement.
  • Create Resources Addressing Counseling Skills: Videos, podcasts, microlearning, and leadership-building.
